Make Money Online – Tracking Your Link Exchanges

Savvy webmasters know the importance of building anchor text backlinks to their websites. It is, after all, the key to ranking well in the search results of search engines like Google and Bing. One old proven technique to getting such links is to email the webmaster of another related site and asking to exchange links (WordPress users use the word blogrolls).

Keeping track of the link exchanges you have done is important to continue growing the authority of the website you run. You need to know who you are linking out to so that you can make sure they are still linking in to your website. You need to keep track of outstanding requests, whether the other webmaster has or has not linked to you yet, and whether you have held up your end or not.

One of the simplest ways to do this is to use an Excel spreadsheet. But not everyone has Excel on their PCs. A free alternative that is nearly as powerful is to download and install OpenOffice.

Here are the templates I use for tracking my link exchanges:

If you use Firefox, right click on the template you want, then click “Save Link As”.

If you use Internet Explorer, right click on the template you want, then click “Save Target As…”.

Now stop dawdling and start sending emails to other webmasters to ask for link exchanges. Remember that more links means better search rankings and better rankings means you can make residual income online more easily.
